I begin every personalized avian nutrition consultation by explaining the importance of having a properly formulated, properly grown sprouting blend make up at least 50 % of the bird’s diet.
When I say properly formulated and properly grown, I mean a sprouting blend that has been formulated to provide complete protein and on that has a compatible germination rate so that it can and will grow for two to three days to reach optimum nutrition. Our sprouting blends have these two qualities and they are USDA certified organic.

Why 50% of a Parrot’s Diet?
The reason I suggest that our sprouting blends make up at least 50 % of a parrot’s diet is so that the bird can begin receiving an ideal amount of extremely high quality food right away. In many situations, because of improper, imbalanced or downright poor nutrition, a parrot can be much sicker than they appear. A key avian survival trait is for a bird to ‘pretend’ they are well and healthy, keeping up with the flock, until they can’t keep up faking it any more. By this time they may be very close to death.
Avian Malnutrition, the Urgent Crisis
Because seeds and other foods missing key nutrients have been such a large part of a parrot’s diet for so long, if you want to begin using food as medicine for building or maintaining good health it’s vital to begin feeding high quality foods right away.
