Feeding Parrots: Using Diet for Good Health and Healing, Part 2
Food as Medicine
When using diet and nutrition for health and healing, is what really matters to you – you’ll want to feed your birds a diet that is already developing a reputation for being able to produce healing results in birds. Here at our facility we’re seeing disease prevention and disease reversal—very exiting in terms of using food for healing parrots and finches!
Presently, holistic avian nutrition is about four decades behind what is readily available for preventing or reversing disease conditions in dogs and cats. However, now you have the opportunity to close this 40 year gap!
How to Get Results
In order to achieve the results I’m describing, you’ve got to feed nutritional superior foods. The reason this is so important is because when using diet and nutrition for developing health and wellness you are actually providing optimum nutrition that the body needs for building new, healthier cells. The foods you feed, and your bird eats, actually have the ability to create a healthy individual, because we are building this new level of health one cell at a time.
Healthy Cell Regeneration
As old, unhealthy cells die-off they are replaced by new healthier cells – but only if you are feeding foods that can nourish this type of new growth. Dry seeds, pelleted diets, even fresh fruits and vegetable can only provide a fraction of the nutrients needed for building the high level of health and wellness you want for your birds. And many of these foods contain cell damaging free-radicals.
Change the Foods You Feed
If you want to start reversing the free-radical damage I wrote about in Part 1 of this blog post—the best and only way to do this is to feed foods that are insanely rich in antioxidants. Now, please know, I’m not talking about vitamin supplements or herbs, or another piecemeal approach. I’m suggesting you feed real foods, wholesome and nutritious foods, that are naturally rich in antioxidants, complete protein and enzymes.
Free-radicals, Antioxidants and Enzymes
First, I’ll give you a quick review of free-radicals and the damage they cause, then second I’ll explain why antioxidants are so important, and thirdly, I’ll discuss the role that fresh, live, enzymes have in keeping your parrots healthy.
Oxidative stress (free-radical damage) is a major disease causing component in numerous degenerative diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, several types of liver disease and many cancers are have been identified as being caused by chronic oxidative stress. Free radicals break down and destroy delicate body tissues and cells and even the aging process itself.
Antioxidants to the Rescue
Also called free-radical scavengers, antioxidants, build good health by neutralizing toxic free-radicals in the body. Antioxidants are natural compounds that help protect the body from harmful free radicals. Each different antioxidant targets a specific free-radical. Because of this it is very important for you to feed your parrots a balance of foods that provide a wide variety of different antioxidants.
Antioxidants are nature’s For disease prevention, it is vital to consume a wide variety of antioxidants. Antioxidants are very fragile and are easily destroyed by heat.
Enzymes Sustain Life!
Enzymes are metabolic catalysts, this means they cause hundreds of thousands of bodily processes to take place. Without enzymes metabolic processes in the body would take place too slowly to sustain life. That’s why enzymes are vital for your bird’s good health. Enzymes are very fragile and can only be found in raw fruits and vegetables, with sprouts being the richest source of enzymes available.
Where to Find Both
Because I care about the health and well being of your birds, and because my goal is to end avian malnutrition, I created the Best Bird Food Ever! Sprouting Blends. Only our sprouting blends have been especially formulated to contain complete protein, and they also contain an abundance of life giving enzymes.
Why I Created the BBFE
When birds joined my family, in 1997, there was nothing comparable to our sprouting blends available for sale. Even today, our sprouting blends are nutritional champions above all others. I formulated our sprouting blends using ingredients that provide complete protein and also support the avian body in its natural healing and regeneration processes by providing a wealth of other essential nutrients.
Because our sprouting blends have been especially formulated to provide complete protein, this single factor can produce huge results towards preventing and curing the symptoms of avian malnutrition or healing illness and disease. Our sprouting blends were created because there is a fundamental need for avian caretakers to begin feeding complete protein sprouting blends to their birds as the main part of a ‘Balanced Exotic Avian Food Plan’.
