Raw rose hip jam on apple slices.
1. Purchase organic, high quality, seed-free, dried rose hips.
Our Rosehips are Organic, Seedless, Cut & Sifted, perfect for making this Raw Rosehip Jam. Visit the Rosehips product page and learn more about why rosehips are a part of my “Balanced Food Plan for Parrots”.
2. Grind the debris free rose hips into a fine powder. Use either a food processor or a clean coffee grinder.
3. Add apple juice to the powder until it forms a jam consistency. I use 1 tablespoon rose hip powder to 2 to 3 tablespoons of apple juice. Let sit for 5 minutes, add more apple juice if needed.
4. Optional – Add honey or maple syrup to taste.
5. Place in a jar and serve or refrigerate. This will last two weeks when refrigerated, or you can freeze it.

Use as a spread on fruit, crackers or bread. Rose hip jam is a tasty way to deliver high quality antioxidants to your birds and your family. You can modify the recipe by adding cinnamon powder, alcohol-free vanilla extract or ground orange peel. You can also make this using other juices like raspberry or tart cherry concentrate.
